It is official. Buhari died in a London elite Clinic at the age of 82, in the presence of his family members and close associates. The news of his demise was brought to the public by Ahmed Garbu, his Special Assistant on Media.
Nigerian public have expressed mixed reaction to the news of Buhari's death. While majority begrudge his erratic, destructive eight-year reign as a democratically elected president of the country for destroying the economy, enabling insecurity, installing nepotism in government, elevating tribalism, promoting lawlessness and exhibiting authoritarian tendencies, few others eulogizes his legacies and praise his achievements.
Buhari's character and personality will be remembered largely by his quote during the buildup to the 2015 general election where he was quoted as saying "...the monkey and the baboon will be soaked in blood.." in response to a question he was asked about how he will react should he fail the election.
It is worthy to note that his administration completed the popular second Niger Bridge providing alternative link road to between the country's most remarkable land and geographical divide.
Buhari is laid to rest today in his country home in Daura, the current Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu have declared this day a public holiday in honor of the legacies of the former president.
