In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Nsit Atai Local Government Area has unanimously endorsed Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpeyong as the political leader of the party in the area.
The endorsement took place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, during a well-attended event held in Essien Itiaba, Nsit Atai. The ceremony was presided over by the APC chapter chairman in Nsit Atai, Hon. Ntiaobong Essien.
Introducing the newly endorsed leader, Hon. Essien described Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpeyong as an astute administrator, seasoned politician, moral compass, bridge-builder, and grassroots mobilizer. He praised Ekpeyong’s impactful legacy as a former Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and as a Member of the House of Representatives for Uyo Federal Constituency.
“The decision to endorse Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpeyong followed a thorough and objective assessment of his leadership qualities, as well as consultations with key stakeholders. He has the requisite experience and integrity to lead the APC to victory in future elections,” Essien stated, emphasizing that the choice was made not for personal interests, but in recognition of excellence and capacity.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpeyong expressed deep appreciation to the party leadership and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to run an inclusive administration where every segment of the party will have a voice.
He also used the platform to commend the President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio, for facilitating the appointments of several distinguished indigenes of Akwa Ibom State to various boards, parastatals, and commissions. He equally thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for confirming those appointments and pledged his unwavering loyalty and support to their administration.
Several party leaders and stakeholders spoke in support of the endorsement, including Engr. Ifiok Titus, a state officer of the party in Nsit Atai; Bishop Ime Ekpe, former chapter chairman of the PDP; Pastor Akaninyene Noah, former APC chapter chairman; Prince Isaac Etuk Etuk, APC House of Assembly candidate in the last general elections; and Hon. Enefiok Tom Enebong, among others.
Notable attendees at the endorsement event included Hon. Emmanuel Udo Udo, Hon. Sylvanus Eyo, Obong Cyril Ibanga, Hon. Agatha Paulinus, several ward chairmen, and councillorship candidates from the last local government elections.
